Deep introspection and collaborative discussion drive the questions I explore through dance. I’m curious about the patterns and connections between body and mind, identity and society, and how these systems shape one another through time, memory, perception, and personal narrative. I grew up in athletics, theater, and music, but finding dance brought together so much of what I believe makes life fulfilling: presence, discipline, connection, and play. My studies in sociology, psychology, and public services further fueled my curiosity about the systems we inhabit and the ways our individual experiences reflect something larger. I bring this curiosity into the studio, drawing connections between my own life and those of my collaborators. For me, dance is a container for the confusion, frustration, beauty, and awe of the human experience. I think of myself as a microcosmic network, continually shaped by and colliding with the systems around me. Through movement, I get to investigate these relationships from the inside out. Holding contradictions and multiplying a question into more questions keeps my work alive, dynamic, and perpetually unfolding. I don’t dance simply to show, but to understand. To watch me dance is simply to witness a process of learning. Above all, I want to observe and enjoy this body in partnership with a soul. It’s the best way I know how. I hope audiences find something of their own experience in that process, and perhaps leave with a little more curiosity about what it means to be here, in a body, together.
