Financial transparency

Financial transparency ⁎

In the dance industry today it is standard practice to cut costs by under compensating dancers via providing an insufficient stipend, or basing pay on ticket sales. As a dancer and choreographer, I hope to begin a wave of change where dancers who have dedicated their lives to this craft can be properly compensated for their time. All artistic collaborators and project artists are paid $17 an hour and a $25 - $50 show stipend.

HELP SUPPORT THE EQUITABLE PAY OF LOCAL ARTISTS TODAY

The Human Experience Dance Project is currently structured as a fiscal sponsorship through Robin Davis, the creative director under Fractured Atlas, an organization developed to help serve artists. Make a tax-deductible donation today!

What is a fiscal sponsorship? A fiscal sponsorship is an arrangement where a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit (the sponsor) allows a smaller project or group to operate under its legal and financial umbrella, enabling the project to receive tax-deductible donations and grants it couldn't otherwise get, in exchange for administrative support and usually an administrative fee. It's a way for new or independent charitable initiatives to quickly start work, test ideas, or manage funds without the lengthy process of forming their own nonprofit, with the sponsor overseeing the funds and ensuring they're used for charitable purposes.
